The Bedroom

I have been doing a lot of talk lately about moving my house around. Well, this weekend Jeb and I actually accomplished it! Well, almost. The only rooms that are completely finished are our bedroom and bathroom. I think you all remember the before (no need to post pics of bathroom, all I did was organize and move the kitty litter box under the shelf) :

Annnndddddd the aftttteeerrrrr:

Oh, and remember our sad little closet that we used for laundry as well as some of my clothes??

Well, the clothes are gone!

We moved it into the old office. Well, it is still kind of the office. The computer is still in here....but so is our wardrobes, and Jeb's dresser. The next step is moving the computer into the dining room. Which after moving the other bookshelf in there is beginning to become a wee bit cramped. But, I feel much better without so much clutter in my bedroom. And, the dining room won't be THAT bad. I think once I paint the dark bookshelf an off-white to match the other bookshelf, it would look much better. Or maybe by then we will be able to get the large bookcases we want from Ikea?????

This is my inspiration. Can't wait until spring to make some changes in my house.

time for a change

I have been reading lots of decorating blogs recently and I think it is time for a change. Our tiny little house has two bedrooms. The second one is fairly small, so we use it for our office. That is also where the only decent sized closet is that acts as our main storage closet. However, lately, I have been thinking of moving the computer out into the dining room, seeing since we rarely have dinners in there... There is also a tall book shelf I would like to move out there as well. Then I could turn the second room into a HUGE CLOSET. Only downer is that the kitties litter box is in the storage closest, which is in the 2nd room. And sometimes that causes that second room to smell funky... Hm...Maybe I can hide the litter box under the metal shelf in the bathroom? I don't know. I just know that I am sick of clutter and over the past 5 years, Jeb and I have picked up quite a bit of stuff. I was always trying to save everything for when we had a decent sized house. Well, I am sick of all our junk taking up so much room! So, come spring time I have decided we are getting rid of junk. And for now, maybe I can just move some stuff around to make space.

We desperately need to go to Ikea.

bummer

I am pretty miserable today. I really do not want to be at work. I have no motivation to work. Life is bumming me out. eh.
All I did all weekend was go go go. I think I am exhausted from all the shopping I did. I still have more shopping to do tonight. Maybe I can finish it!

Well, maybe these will perk me up.....

bluh!

I have always loved Christmas. However, this year I am beginning to not like it so much. I hate the present aspect of it. I don't like having to tell someone things I want or need. I don't like having to feel like I have to get certain people gifts. Why can't we just put up a tree, eat yummy food, drink wine, make each other gifts and be merry? Maybe I am hating the present thing because we are on a budget and I can't shop freely? Maybe I am just miserable. Who knows.

desperate

I have to be honest. I have been in this awful funk for the past year. I am ready for this year to be over with. And I am hoping that the new year will bring nothing but (hopefully good) change. I am desperate for change. I need something new in my life. Some excitement. Something. Anything! Come on 2010, you can't come soon enough.

where did november go?

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Jeb and I had to eat a dinner at my parents house at 2:30, then we ate at his parents house at 5:30! My stomach looks like I still have all that yummy food in there. I definitely need to get back on the eating healthy kick. As well as get back on a good running schedule! I know I am not overweight, but I am not at a comfortable weight for me. I would like to lose about 5 pounds. I gotta look good for Brittany's wedding in May! And that is 6 months, so I think I have plenty of time to shed a few pounds.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving! I am so excited for all the yummy goodness. Here are a few things I am thankful for:

1. I have a good husband
2. My family is awesome!
3. My best friend is da bomb!

Yup, that's about it! Hope you all have a good Thanksgiving.

Generation Kill

Jeb and I just finished watching Generation Kill on HBO on demand. For some reason I can't get what I watched outta my head. When discussing an episode with Jeb, he said "the show is very real." It is weird to think Jeb did stuff like this when he was 18 and 19. I can't help but think of when it will be time for my brother to serve in Afghanistan. It scares me. I don't want my little brother to see stuff like that. I want to protect him. But, I guess that is what he signed up for, right?

I am not really sure how I felt about the show. It gives you a different perspective on the war and even on life. It is fairly graphic. Honestly, sometimes it was almost disturbing. But I guess that is part of war...

what!

I desperately want to try this stuff.
It is called Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Soap. And I guess it is just concentrated pure soap. And you can use it for body wash, shampoo, dish soap and other cleaners! I went to target last night because I thought I had seen it there and I looked at there website and saw it, but no luck. Guess I just need to order it online? Maybe a health food store would have it?

Thank You

I stole this from Courtney...

"Thinking of those who fought and lost, those who fought and won, and those who are still fighting today. Freedom is never free. Thank you and Happy Veterans Day"

If you know a vet, take the time to thank them today.

"Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"

Now, I am not the smartest person out there.... And I don't know everything about our constitution and all the laws and amendments. But seriously people! This is not right!!!!

Now before you get all crazy, let me explain something. I don't really believe in same sex marriage. It is a strange concept for me. But, I am a human being. My husband is a human being. People who are gay are human beings!!! They deserve the same rights and liberties that my husband and I do! I used to not feel this way. I use to think, "Gay is bad". But, that's not fair and thats not right. I know people that are gay. They are STILL people. I love my husband and I am so happy to be married. Who are we to deny two woman or two men the same happiness?
Because Jeb can.

ink

I love ink. And by ink, I mean tattoos. Jeb is pretty much covered in them. I sometimes wish that I could be covered in them too. I really like chest pieces and 1/4 sleeves on girls. Would I ever get my arms and chest tattooed?? Probably not. I know it would affect me getting a job and some people view of me. So, I choose to get tattoos where I can always cover them up super easily. Lately I have been really wanting to get another one. I have thought about getting the velveteen rabbit. That was one of my favorite stories when I was a little kid. However, there are a few problems:
1. tattoos are expensive and we don't have much spare cash at the moment.
2. all I have is a newer version of the book, and the image of the rabbit is not what I remember. This is similar to what I remember.

This is the newer version:

3. where on my body would I get it!?
4. I am not sure how it would look. most likely silly.

I think that I am just craving some new ink sooo badly that I am thinking of anything I can get tattooed on me. Tattoos really are an addiction.

...and the weekend is gone!

I feel like all I did was sleep this weekend. I didn't get much accomplished that was on my To Do list. Oh well. There is always next weekend! Jeb and I did however get started on finishing the back yard...

We finished some of that area off to the left. There is SO much debris and crap over there that we have decided to do a little section at a time. It is cool enough now that the poison ivy should stay away.

I never got in a long run. Maybe today?

the weekend is upon us!

YES! The weekend is finally here! I have big plans for this weekend.

1. mow my lawn - It has been a few weeks since I have been able to mow the front yard. And now that we have grass in the back yard (yay!) I will also need to cut the back as well!

2. get rid of the remaining poison ivy - About a month ago we finally tore up the back yard and planted some grass. However, we still had some poison ivy in the side next to the fence. There was SO much debris and vines and what not, we just decided we would wait until we had more time to tear that up. Hopefully it doesn't rain on sunday!

3. complete Halloween costumes - Let me tell you. I enjoy Halloween. This year Jeb and I have been invited to a Halloween party. Fun! I am going to be a flapper and he is going to be a gangster from the 20's. We need to hit up some thrift stores for a few things and we are all set!

4. RUN RUN RUN - We are running the Wicked 10K on Halloween morning. The furthest I have ran since the 1/2 marathon? 4 miles. So I am thinking this Sunday I need to get in a serious 5 mile run.

5. get my car fixed! This is a simple one. All I need to do is drop my car off at my dad's friends house tonight and hopefully he can fix it. I am hoping it doesn't cost too much. I know our friend will take care of it much cheaper then VW dealership will. But NOTHING with VW's is cheap. UGH

6. ORGANIZE - As long as I have time I really want to organize under my sinks, in the bathroom and my one closet. Hopefully I have time and energy this weekend!

what to write

I tend to never really know what to write on this thing. Well, I guess there are plenty of things I would like to write about, but I feel as though I probably shouldn't put them out there in the open. It's not that I am worried about people knowing certain things about me...but I am worried that I might offend someone. I also tend to want to write when I am mad/upset about something....so my posts tend to seem depressing....and I don't want people to think I am depressed all the time. So, how do you know when something is or is not appropriate to put on here? Maybe I just shouldn't worry about that anymore and I should just post openly? Hmm....

here we go

Some not so great things right now:

1. My car is breaking and I am not sure when I can get it fixed.
2. Money...EW
3. Possible rain on Saturday.
4. Broken printer.
5. Broken vacuum.

And a few things I am happy/excited about:

1. Mom's birthday was a ton of fun.
2. I have the best family/friends around!
3. Halloween is in 10 days and I get to go to a costume party! yay!
4. Jeb and I get to run a race together on Halloween.
5. Possibly taking classes at the Art Institute.
6. Meeting Jeb for lunch today!

Sometimes writing these things down relieves a wee bit of stress. YAY for more positives! (even if they are just little things)

what a blast

Secret birthday bash was a success!! I was up from 9 till 11 on Friday and I was going NON STOP. Seriously worked my butt off. Thank goodness I had Joye and her sisters there to help! Also my aunt and uncle! My mom's 50th birthday party was lots of fun. It was so great that all her sisters and brother could fly in to see her. I think for the most part she was surprised.

I would like to maybe see Where the Wild Things Are tonight...before our secret mission. mauaha. I was never really into the book when I was younger...but it looks interesting.

what now?

I have been struggling a lot lately with the future. I am sort of impatient. I don't want to wait for things to happen. And if I have to wait, then I want to know what will happen and when. I need to get over this though. I need to learn to live more freely and let life just come. This might be why I have been having a hard time lately because I am trying to not worry about everything so much. Really, I am. Jeb doesn't have steady work. Usually I would be FREAKING out. But, I am trying my best to just stay calm and let things work themselves out. I am trying not to worry about next months bills until they are due. This might be one of the hardest things I have had to do/change.
There are a few other things I am a little stressed about, but I am trying my hardest not to let them bother me. I can't worry about everything.

home sweet home

Let me try and sum up my weekend as best as I can.

Woke up Friday morning at 4 am. Got to the airport around 4 35-ish. Boarded our flight around 530, layover in Atlanta, arrived in Tampa, Florida around 10 am. Got into a car and drove for about an hour to get to Sarasota, saw a house Jeb and his family used to live in. Stopped at Hooters for lunch. Drove another 1 1/2 hr to Naples, Florida.
Once we arrived at our hotel, a Hampton Inn, which might have been the nicest darn hotel I have ever stayed in, we rested up a little then got ready for the rehearsal party at 6. Party was fun, everyone drank too much, some bug attacked me, Abby, and my mother-in-law. (my legs looks like i have chicken pox. wtf!?!) FINALLY got in around 11.
Woke up Saturday around 8, layed around for a while, finally went to the outlet mall around 10 30. Spent a little bit of money, headed back to the hotel, and got ready for the wedding at 5.
Florida was SOOOOOOOOOOoo hot. Everyone was sweating so bad. It was awful. At least the wedding ceremony was only like 15 minutes!
We partied for a while, Jeb and I left early around 930. Went to bed around like 11. Then got up Sunday at 5 and headed home.
Once we got home Sunday, we kinda just layed around all day. I went to bed around 9. I woke up sometime before 5 and was wide awake. I should have gotten up because when I woke up at 730 I could barely open my eyes.

Overall the trip was fun I guess. Wasn't really much of a vacation.
I will post pics once I get em.

This week is going to be way busy.
