banks

Jeb and I have always had two bank accounts. One being Navy Federal Credit Union. Mainly because it's a credit union and that's the one we got into with Jeb being in the military. When we lived in California, we also had Washington Mutual. I have had Wachovia here at home, and Bank of America in Cali and here. Well, we didn't use Navy Fed much because they aren't everywhere like the other banks. And it takes them forever to take money out of your account! I am a stickler for balancing our checkbook! AND Navy Fed will do things like take the money out for a transaction...put it back in...then take it out again! UGH. So, we always kinda of stayed away from that account, but hung on to it because of all the advantages you get with a credit union. However, recently we have been getting sick of having two accounts. I am tired of always going to the bank and having to take money out and put it in a different account and transfering money back and forth and blah blah blah. Well, we got both our direct deposits switched over to Navy Fed and we are in the process of closing out Bank of America account. And while balancing my checkbook this morning I am remembering why we never kept Navy Fed as our main bank account. uuuggggghhhhhhhhh. oh well. Too late to go back now!

On another note, once again, there may be some changes in the Britton household. Changes for the better maybe. Who knows.

Oh and Cheesecake factory tonight for Jeb's birthday dinner.

WHY

WHY must Banana Republic be SO wonderful???
I LOVE this blue dress. Wish I had seen that before I bought the one i did for the wedding in october :(

ugh

I wrote a pretty long entry. Then I realized I couldn't really post it. I had a lot of questions...but I know all the answers. Right now is not the time. I know I AM ready. But, I can't do this all by myself! Oh well. Maybe in like a year or something?

fall

I absolutely LOVE fall. I love everything about it. The colors. The weather. The smell. Yes, fall has a smell. There is no humidity, and the air is FRESH. I love being able to wear sweaters and darker colors. I love pumpkins, and mums, and yellow/brown leaves. I love Thanksgiving and Christmas. Not really because of presents, but because this is the time where I get to see everyone I care about. No excuses. I must see my family. That is what holidays are about, to me at least. Being able to have some good/fun times with the ones you love.

So, YAY for FALL!

phew

so, yesterday I got quite a bit accomplished that was on my to do list. I woke up and Jeb and I met up with the Andrews and went for a run at the boardwalk. I had a pretty awful run. But I think I needed that. I need to start eating better again and I can't not run during the week!!!

I then had to clean for 2 hours. It is always nice do have that little bit of extra cash when I'm done. Then once I got home, I cleaned MY house, and a little later we worked on the dreaded back yard!!! We got most of it torn up and got some grass seed down finally! Hopefully within the next couple of weeks, the rest of the poison ivy will die off and we can finish it!

I think I have not been drinking as much water as I should be lately because the past two saturdays after I ran, I have had the worst headaches. So, I ended up taking a nap yesterday...so I was up pretty late. I organized my mess of a closet. Wish I had some before pictures. But, just imagine clothes and random things smashed into the shelves! I also organized my wardrobe, which was a complete mess. I have WAY too many clothes....but I can't get rid of anything.

I also played "dress up" (with a ribbon) with Shirley and Luci. Lynx wouldn't let me take pictures of him. :(

I still have a lot more things I need to get done. I need to touch up with some paint in some places in the house. Go through and organize my two jewelry boxes. Organize our one closet. Organize Jeb's office. But I have just about lost all motivation!

goals

Okay. Maybe if I actually get this written down I will do them:

1. Go back to eating healthy foods and smaller portions
2. run 3 times a week
3. get up early so I can run in the mornings!

thanks mom!

My mom found this really pretty white Williams Sonoma dish at a garage sale. I begged and pleaded. And she caved.

I have this really pretty table runner...but when I put it on the table, my one cat tries to attack it. So, the table looks kinda bare. Oh well. And ignore that hideous bookshelf in the back. Jeb is going to build me a nice one one day...

In other news, I signed up for the wicked 10K this morning. I will probably sign Jeb up next week.

just a taste

So, I made a big purchase today. And after I left the store, I just about had a heart attack. I talk about saving and not really being able to buy stuff, and I go out and pull something like this! I still need to add some more pillows or something in the pretty maroon color that is in there. It also looks reversible....not sure if it was actually MEANT for that.....but you could definitely switch it. I also need some fluffier pillows to put in the shams. So, as soon as I get those...and when it is brighter out, I will post better pics!

Next big purchase will be the 10K in October!

who would have guessed...

That I would want to continue to run? Not me! I am thinking of running the Blue Moon Wicked 10K with a friend. It is only about 6.2 miles, but Jeb and I kinda want to run the shamrock half, and this might be a good thing to get me back into the groove of training. When I was training for the Rock n Roll 1/2, the furthest distance I had run was only 6 miles! And I had kinda just stopped with my training schedule and just ran when I felt like it. I definitely want to run further then 6 miles before the Shamrock. This time I am really going to try and train.

woo!

I actually ran the Rock n Roll 1/2 marathon on sunday! It was insane!!

Not the best picture because I had just ran 13.1 miles!

At like mile 11, I heard someone call out my name and there was Jeb, his mom, and my family! It was def. super motivating seeing them when I wasn't expecting it. My time was about 2 hours 45 min. I need to look online and find out for sure.

I am kinda proud of myself I guess you could say. I still can't believe I actually did it!

oh boy

Okay. Overall this car has been pretty darn good to me. It has mad it across country twice and has never quit on me.

But, recently it has been nothing but a huge money pit. And I THINK the transmission is going. And I still have until August of 2010 to pay it off!!! I just had the rear axles replaced which costs us about 800 bucks! The car was making a ticking/clicking noise when I slowed down, and VW said it was the axles. So, they replaced them twice bc the first set still made the ticking noise bc their parts were faulty. And its STILL making the noise and now they are saying it is bc the brake pad snap ring is broken?????? Like, seriously. I really think VW is making it up or something.

As for the transmission problem...the car will (usually when I am on the interstate and going about 60) all of a sudden slow down and when I press in the gas peddle the RPM's shoot up, but the car barely accelerates! Then sometimes it jerks forward and UGH. I was reading some posts from people on the web and it seems like a lot of people are having or have had this problem...and their transmission needed to be replaced. oh. joy. Now, I have never actually had this problem checked out...mainly bc other things go in the car first and I only have money to get THAT problem fixed. But, I get an awful feeling.....

I can't even take the car mroe than a couple hours away bc I am so worried it will break down. I do not feel very safe driving this car.

If I owned the car...it wouldn't be so bad I guess. But making car payments on top of major maintnence. That just flat out sucks.

So, I don't know if I should just suck it up and hope if never dies on me and just keep shelling out cash to keep it maintained...or should I start saving to put a down payment on a new car. bluh.
